I changed the sell lines to incorporate colors from the photo and moved the story that reflected the photo into the focal point of the photo. In the department pages I tried to add more entry-points for the reader. I added a colored edge to the page for navigational purposes. Taking a cue from a magazine the Boomer group was looking at, I added extra leading between the lines of the text for the new version.
I would have liked more time to spend with revisions, but I think it also helps me be more excited to be involved in furthering the design process.

How fun was it to look at all the old art for the history assignment?
What if that was your job?
This article examines Jim Heimann, a man who's made money compiling his collection of older, hard-to-find design items and ultimately cataloguing them in a book.
Looking for inspirational design pieces for around the house? Heimann offers his advice for finding cool, vintage posters and other design fragments: "I don’t do eBay. Sunday mornings from 5:30 a.m. to around 11 are reserved for the flea market. We have a different one every Sunday here in L.A. and it’s something I have done religiously for 30 years. I’ve found that in four or five hours I can find more “stuff” at a fraction of the price than I could sitting in front of a computer for days."

RESPONSE: LOGO DESIGN
The most interesting part of this class was hearing the process that everyone went through to get to the end product. It was really, really insightful to hear the find of connections that people had made in order to create a single logo.
I don't think there's anything wrong with using obvious images that are going to spur the viewer to immediately come to some conclusion. However, there's a lot of beauty in a logo that people are able to grown with. Something that allows people to realize more and more things about the represented product as the logo is viewed over and over again. I think powerful logos are those that are multifaceted - the logos that have the ability to stick with someone for a long time after they've seen it.
