YOU CAN'T MISS:carnage for kids?
http://www.aiga.org/content.cfm/carnage-for-kids

This week's aiga voice post examines the responsibilities of those who are marketing the graphic product. This is done through a trip to the local blockbuster where kid's movies and horror movies are placed side by side.

It's up to us to create a graphic that relevant and not overly offensive to OUR audience, but what about the other consumers who are getting a look at it?

The author also has a little something to say about suggestive, as opposed to obvious ,design.
" Today’s horror movies are not subtle glosses on Psycho. Psycho is a public-service announcement compared to today’s viscera porn. The covers represent this increasingly graphic and brutal trend. There’s nothing suggestive. It’s all Disembowelment for Dummies. "

RESPONSE: web sites

Goodness these were AMAZING. Although it's something that doesn't happen too often in real life, it's really interesting to see how a group of different people copes with the same problems. I really liked the how many people added the option of seeing the product at actual printed size. It's a great way to see details and allow interested potential employers to learn more about the story.

I also loved the photoshop sites. What a great way to substitute new work in and out as it appears. It's a quick and easy good-looking solution to the web portfolio conundrum.

CRITIQUE: Sex Myths
(PDF to come)

Holy cow. I've never been so excited about something and then had such a hard time completing it. I'm still not sure why this was so difficult for me. Overall, I liked the final product. I think all the different areas could have used a little more breathing room. There was a lot of text. But it was a lot of important text. You guys should check it out; the story is really intersting, quick read.

I also wasn't crazy about the illustrations. I ended up drawing stick figures over photos applicable to several of the myths. I think it was a good way to combine the light-hearted tone of the story with the important health informaion, but I just am not especially crazy about my execution.
